Holistic Health and Meditation:
Tools for Personal Transformation
We all wonder
about the mind-body
connection. The subtle links of interconnection often seem
like a
mystery, but in fact, they can be discovered by self-observation.
How do your
thoughts and emotions affect the
decisions you make, in how you care for your self, what you eat, how
much you
sleep, rest, exercise, play, and work? In reverse, how does
the condition
of your body, affect your mood, your decisions, attitudes, and behavior?
Discovering
these links, and becoming aware of
the best decisions for your whole self, with all its components, is the
basis
of holistic health. In psychotherapy you can become aware of how levels
of
anxiety, depression or other emotional states, affect your ability to
make
choices, which are the best for you.
Finding a
balance in every area, in how we use
our energies, helps us to live most productively and creatively. The
kinds
of thoughts we focus on, and the choices of who we spend time with,
also
influence our attitudes and behaviors. The ways in which we care for,
or
ignore, our own selves and bodies, reinforce ideas and beliefs we have,
which
might be limiting to growth and well-being.
If we have a
growing awareness of the myriad of
decisions we make in daily life, and how mood and thought patterns
affect these
decisions, we can become more productive, and less confined by old
habits.
Having more energy for the challenges of life, patterns of
disorganization can
be replaced by a more efficient use of your time and energy.
I can help
you to develop practices in
observation of yourself, ranging from breath work to meditation, to
yoga, to
working with negative and positive thoughts, in any combination, which
works
best for you. These practices can become your own laboratory
of
observation and self-knowledge, which is an irreplaceable source of
awareness,
and inspiration for change and growth. Old habits, which are not
helpful, can
be replaced with new ones, which give you energy and contentment.
